Made entirely of hand made felt, these structures were suspended by bungee cords from trees on the Cranbrook Education Community campus. Intended for one or two people, the spaces are activated by the visitors’ weight causing the shape and height of the form to change. Reminiscent of the body, the hand made material creates a striated pattern on the interior space. Intimacy, reflection, meditation, craft and human interaction were the main themes addressed. This work is a collaboration with Tricia Stackle. Photos: P.D. Rearick and the artists. Nest 1 (Red) Completed: 11/08. Nest 2 (Pink) Completed: 2/09.
